Henrietta, N.Y. - Hundreds of high-tech jobs will be created at Alstom.
The Henrietta plant announced Tuesday it will expand its facility that makes railroad signals.
Alstom officials said they will hire 200 more people to meet demand around the country.
"We've seen the funding being directed to corridors like Chicago and St. Louis," Alstom President Guillaume Melham said. "Some of it's being directed to the West coast some of it's on the East coast. There are clearly corridors where there's a need and that funding is going to seed some of the future projects and development and expansion for high speed rail."
Alstom is making $3 million dollars worth of upgrades to the Henrietta plant. The vast majority of the 200 jobs that will be added will be high-paying engineering positions.
The expansion is directly tied to $2 billion in federal money allocated for high-speed rail and other infrastructure improvement projects.
Five hundred people currently work at the plant.
