Fredonia, N.Y – An escaped felon featured on “America's Most Wanted” has been arrested by New York State Police.

Joseph Chapman escaped from McKean County Jail in Pennsylvania in 2007.

Police say they were tipped off by someone who had recently seen Chapman featured on an episode of “America’s Most Wanted.”

Along with escaping from jail, Chapman also had a number of warrants for sexual assault of a child and rape.

Chapman, who has been using the name Joshua Thompkins, initially denied the allegations, but after being interviewed it was determined by the F.B.I., United States Marshal Services and Dunkirk Police Department that Thompkins was Joseph Chapman.

According to police, Chapman was living in the Buffalo area for a while before relocating to Chautauqua County in fall of 2011.

Chapman was transferred back to Pennsylvania on May 22.  New York State Police are continuing the investigation.

Anyone with further details on Chapman is asked to call the New York State Police at (716) 665-3113.
