Rochester, NY – According to firefighters, an 11-year-old boy helped his three-year-old sister escape a burning house through a bedroom window.

A Rochester man has been charged with arson in the second degree, after police say he set fire to a house on 179 Kilmar Street--with two children inside.

According to the Rochester Fire Department, Jerome Tavolino, 37, was arrested Saturday after police received a tip from a concerned citizen.

Firefighters say the boy helped his sister escape the house by pulling her through a bedroom window onto the roof of the garage.
