Car Crash Sends Elderly Man To Hospital

Benton, N.Y. – Authur Griffiths, 92, is in guarded condition at Strong Memorial Hospital after a car crash Saturday afternoon. 

The crash happened around 4 p.m. Saturday on State Rt. 14A and North Main St. in Benton. 

Police say Carolyn Weaver, 32, was driving north on Rt. 14A when Griffiths entered the road from North Main St. and went into the path of Weaver’s car. 

Weaver then collided into Griffiths car, according to police. 

Police say Griffiths suffered internal injuries and was taken to Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital, then later transferred to Strong Memorial Hospital by helicopter. 

Griffiths remains in guarded condition at Strong.

Police say Weaver had three children in the car with her.  No one from Weaver’s car was injured.
