“He’s only 5 weeks old and 4 weeks of that he’s been in the hospital,” explains Tracey over the phone. “He’s getting better and that’s the big thing right now.”
Tuesday morning Blake underwent surgery to keep him healthy enough for a possible transplant. He is the youngest on the transplant list and first in line for an infant heart.
“Every time he has to face something he comes out of, he’s a fighter,” says Simmons. In the tenacity of their tiny com these parents see the hope for their future.
“Just the hope that we’re going home sometime soon and he’s going to be running around,” describes Tracey Purdy. “A normal life, that’s what we’re hoping for.”
