Honeoye Falls, N.Y. – Monroe County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested a suspect in connection with a bank robbery in Honeoye Falls Friday morning.

23-year-old Michael Vanaalst of Honeoye Falls is accused of robbing the M & T Bank on North Main Street around 10 a.m. Friday.

The robbery forced a lockdown of the nearby Honeoye Falls schools for about an hour, after reports came in that the suspect was seen in the area.

“We were waiting for the EMCC bus and then our vice principal came out and said you guys have to go up to the rooms,” said Cole Young a student at the high school. “He said there's been a bank robbery and we're on lockdown.”

Investigators said they caught the suspect at his home on East Street, near the schools.

No weapon was shown during the robbery. Vanaalst is being charged with robbery in the third degree and grand larceny in the third degree.
