Geneseo, N.Y. - It's the place you get a handshake and a haircut, where you can share a joke or a story.
On Saturday, the only barbershop in Geneseo closed its doors. Those doors had been open for around 75 years.
Opened by Richard Peraino's father and his partner, and kept alive by Richard, the shop has charged the same price for a haircut for 16 years: $9.
While that price didn't change, Richard's rent did, leading to this: his last day.
We asked him what he'll miss most.
“It's the people, it's the conversations,” said Peraino. “Every conversation is different, everybody is different."
But Richard's story may not end here.
Though he's 72 years old, he still wants to cut hair and says if anyone in Geneseo has any low-rent space, he would love to reopen.
