Rochester, N.Y. – After 33 years serving the Rochester area, Bishop Matthew Clark is headed for retirement.
The longstanding bishop with the Diocese of Rochester submitted his retirement from the Catholic Church on Sunday, the day of his 75th birthday. Church law requires bishops to resign from their position when they turn 75.
Clark says he plans to continue working with the ministry, but will spend most of his retirement researching local history and watching his sports teams.
He will stay on as bishop until his successor is chosen
