Rochester, N.Y. - The owners of the Bug Jar, a popular bar on Monroe Avenue, have decided to close the establishment temporarily, following a fatal shooting outside Sunday night.

The owners of the bar will meet Friday morning to decide the Bug Jar's future. Police say this was the third incident at the bar.

Rochester Police say fights broke out as two rap performers were on stage, security then kicked everyone outside. That's when shots were fired.

Deavoughn Hernandez-Ruffin was shot and later died. The 21-year-old had attended the rap battle to watch his cousin perform.
Family members say he loved to dance and was a good father. He worked at the Walmart on Hudson Avenue.

He had spent his first Father's Day with his daughter who spoke her first words to him, saying: "da da." Hours later, the victim spoke his last words to friends after he was shot outside the Bug Jar. He told them: "tell my family I love them."

His brother says he was trying to diffuse a situation, so it wouldn't get out of hand.

Though family members say they are glad the bar has temporarily closed, they say that alone, will not stop the violence that took the 21-year-old's life.

His cousin Marion Ruffin tells us: "We've got to get the drugs, violence off the streets, they are killing mothers, brothers, kids...they're taking people's kids."

Police are still searching for a suspect in the homicide.
