Canandaigua, NY --- Canandaigua City Police are now teamed up with New York State Police and together they are working hard to answer one question; how did Lewis McCall die?
McCall's body was found early Sunday morning behind 699 South Main Street, the old Wegmans Plaza. Fisherman discovered McCall, 66, in shallow water and police stated that he had bruises which could be consistent with a fall or a fight.Monday afternoon a NY State Police Helicopter could be seen hovering over the city at numerous times. Police sources tell 13WHAM News they were photographing the area over where Lewis McCall was found early Sunday morning.
The investigation appears to be focused on what witnesses describe as a fight between two men in that area late Saturday night or early Sunday morning. A third person, a woman, was also spotted in that area with the men, according to police.
On Monday investigators would not say if they believe one of those two men fighting was McCall.
"People have been willing to speak with us so far and we hope that continues but we still don't have all the answers we're looking for," Detective Sergeant Scott Kadien of the Canandaigua Police Department told 13WHAM News Monday.
"Anyone who was there from really 8 o'clock in the morning on Saturday up until almost 8 o'clock in the morning on Sunday, if anyone was in that area we're asking them to contact us because we'd like to speak with them," Sgt. Kadien added.

McCall's family declined to comment saying they were still unsure of what happened and where things stood in the investigation. A daughter of McCall's explained how he was a father to five daughters and one son as well as a grandfather to 27 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
