Canandaigua, N.Y.- A teacher in Canandaigua is charged with sexual abuse after police say she had sexual contact with a 16-year-old boy.

Canandaigua City Police charged Lisa Footer, 44, of Manchester, with third-degree sexual abuse, forcible touching and endangering the welfare of a child.

Footer is known as Senora Footer to the students she has taught for 22 years.  Now the spanish teacher is under arrest and under continued investigation.  "We have learned that she had an on-going relationship with a 16 year student," says Sgt. Scott Kadien of the Canandaigua Police Department.

Her arrest came after an alleged incident Saturday night.

Police say just before 10pm teacher and student were parked in the empty lot of the Byrne Dairy on South Main Street in Canandaigua.  Court papers detail the alleged sexual encounter.  "Most, if not all of the other incidents that we are aware of dating back to the summer of this year occurred outside the City of Canandaigua," says Kadien.

Police are looking into allegations of sexual encoutners at the Manchester home where the teacher lived with her husband and two chlidren.  Her teenaged son is two years younger than- and aquainted with - the alleged victim.

Police say at this time there is no evidence to suggest Footer had sexual contact with the boy on school grounds or during school hours.  The relationship became known to a third party who contacted authorities.

"There's a parent element and there's a teacher element and I think she violated both," says Kadien.  "That's distrubing to us and to the victim's parents."

The school district is cooperating with the investigation.  Footer is on administrative leave.

She has been released on $2500 dollars bail.
