STATEMENT FROM DISTRICT::
Today (November 14, 2012), the Canandaigua City School District was informed that Lisa Footer, a teacher employed by the District, was arraigned in Canandaigua City Court and charged with criminal offenses involving her interactions with a District student.
Allegations of an inappropriate relationship between Ms. Footer and a student at Canandaigua Academy were first brought to the District's attention on Tuesday, November 13, 2012, by the Canandaigua City Police Department. The District immediately began cooperating with local law enforcement. The Canandaigua City Police Department has advised the District that there is no evidence of inappropriate behavior with a minor on school grounds. The District has placed Ms. Footer on administrative leave and directed her not to be on school property.
The District is reviewing its legal obligations and rights regarding Ms. Footer's employment with its attorney and will continue to cooperate with the Canandaigua City Police Department and the Ontario County District Attorney's Office. To protect the integrity of the investigation, the District cannot provide further comment at this time, but will do so, if appropriate, as the investigation progresses.
