East Rochester, N.Y. – The rush to buy new and used cars in 2012 fueled what may be the best year for car dealerships around Rochester in a decade, according to the Rochester Automobile Dealers Association.
“We had our worst year in 2009 … Pretty nice recovery,” said Brad McAreavy, RADA’s president.
Hoselton Toyota is reporting a 20 percent jump over 2011.
“Last year, we had an exceptional year,” said Dave Rogers, Hoselton Toyota sales manager.
Meanwhile, Kitty Van Bortel told 13WHAM News her Ford and Suburu dealerships had their best year ever.
“I think there was pent-up demand,” Van Bortel said.
Rogers said both new and used cars have been flying off the lot partly because of demand, but also because of inviting financing.
He added the demand for used cars out of areas affected by Hurricane Sandy have and will continue to drive sales.
