Elmira, N.Y. (WETM 18) - A long-time member of 13WHAM's sister station in Elmira has passed away.
Carl Proper of WETM-18 News died suddenly Saturday morning at Arnot-Ogden Medical Center in Elmira.
His family says he went into the hospital Friday, and died Saturday with related complications.
Staff members at WETM say few people have impacted the station as much as Carl has, over his more then forty years of service. Carl began working at WETM in 1957.
NBC Network anchor Brian Williams is an Elmira native and always credited Proper as being the person he always looked up to in News.
Information regarding a memorial service has not yet been released.
