Irondequoit, N.Y. - The Hunger Games is one of the most anticipated movies of the year.
A group of East Irondequoit eighth graders got to see the movie Friday as part of a class assignment.
"I think it's pretty crazy I would never think that they would make a book or a movie about this," said Alex Underwood, who saw the movie Friday with her classmates.
Teacher Mary Beth Morelle organized the field trip for her class.
"The book has just a lot of social issues in it," Morelle said. "It appeals to teens, it's different from the other series we've seen- Twilight, Harry Potter. In this one there was a lot of content in it."
Fans couldn't wait to see the characters come to life.
The movie has blood-spilling action, archery skills, and even a love triangle.
These students gave it two thumbs up.
"It was awesome," said Yakira Coleman.
"It was a little sad at times, but it was really exciting and it was awesome," Monica Wlodarski said.
