Rochester, N.Y. -- Tuesday night, Rochester City Council members unanimously approved a plan to scare away the crows roosting in Washington Square Park.
The City will enter into a $21,000 contract with the U.S. Department of Agriculture to use non-lethal scare tactics against the crows. Those tactics include distress calls, lasers and pyrotechnics.
During Tuesday's meeting, council members also agreed to renew the City's contract with Rural/Metro Corporation to provide ambulance services to the City. The new four-year contract takes effect April 1, 2012. It can be renewed in two-year terms for a total possible length of eight years.
