Darien, N.Y. – One woman is dead, and three others are injured following a head-on collision on Route 20 in Darien Sunday afternoon around 3 p.m.

The Genesee County Sheriff’s Office says that Darlene Clark of Darien was stopped going westbound on Route 20, preparing to turn left onto Warner Road.

Gerald Kania of Lancaster was also traveling westbound on Route 20. Officials say he was distracted when he swerved left to avoid Clark’s vehicle, crashing head-on into a car driven by Dennis Gleason of Baldwinsville. Gleason's wife and daughter were passengers in the car.

Audrey Gleason, 55, was unresponsive at the scene. She was flown by Mercy Flight to Erie County Medical Center where she was pronounced dead at the hospital. Kelly Gleason was said to be in serious condition, and was transported by Mercy Flight to Children’s Hospital of Buffalo. Dennis Gleason has minor injuries.

Clark was not injured, and Kania was transported to Erie County Medical Center with a leg injury.
