(CNN) -- Police officers who were questioning a suspicious man received quite a surprise after a deer jumped out of his car trunk.
Several police officers in Kalamazoo, Michigan were on the lookout for suspicious activity during an overnight shift when they noticed a man sitting in his car behind a hotel.
The man explained to them that he hit a deer, and that the dead deer was in his trunk.
Only problem? The deer wasn't dead.
Moments later, when the officers opened the trunk, the deer jumped out, giving everyone a little scare and a surprise.
The car owner told officers that he planned on taking the animal home for dinner. It turns out, the deer was only knocked out when he was loaded into the car.
