Albion, N.Y. (AP) - A 24-year-old man has been sentenced to 25 years to life in prison for fatally stabbing a woman during a carjacking attempt in the parking lot of a Walmart in Albion last year.
Luis Rodriguez-Flamenco pleaded guilty in July to second-degree murder for killing 45-year-old Kathleen Byham.
Rodriguez-Flamenco, who police say is an illegal immigrant from Honduras, is accused of stabbing Byham multiple times while grabbing for her car keys. Two accomplices were turned over to immigration officials without being indicted.
Rodriguez-Flamenco offered no apologies during Monday's sentencing in Orleans County Court when asked whether he wanted to speak.
