Perinton, N.Y. – A Perinton is suing two Monroe County Sheriff’s Deputies for fatally shooting his dog in June.

The deputies were responding to a parking complaint on Whitney Road when they say the dog ran towards them aggressively.

Gary Brockler, who filed a lawsuit Tuesday, says his 7-year-old pit bull was well-behaved, and that deputies intentionally and maliciously shot his dog five times.

The lawsuit seeks $10,000 in damages for expenses and emotional distress.

Shortly after the accident, Sheriff Patrick O’Flynn publicly defended the deputies' actions.

13WHAM News has reached out to the Sheriff’s Office; they were not familiar with the lawsuit.
