Henrietta, N.Y. – When Jeff Connolly’s lab pit-bull mix lost the use of her back legs seven months ago, he thought his dog Gia would never walk again.

"She woke up and was kind of acting a little funny, then she couldn’t get up or stand up," Jeff recalls.

Nine-year-old Gia could’ve had a slipped disk or degenerative bone disease but Jeff didn’t have the money to pay for expensive surgeries or tests but Gia no longer had use of her back legs.

"Her recovery chance was about five percent if she went through the surgery," Jeff says.

That’s when Jeff turned to the Internet and on a website called www.handicappedpets.com he found the solution to Gia’s inability to walk.

"I don’t know a lot of people that have wheel chairs for their dogs," the 30-year-old landscaper adds.

Gia’s doggy wheelchair is fully equipped with a harness to strap in her back legs and two tires so that she can use her working front legs to pull her body along.

"She makes the best of things, that’s what she does," Jeff adds.

The cost of the "doggy wheelchair" was around $500 for Jeff though seeing his dog walk on her own again is more than he could’ve ever asked for.

"She’s starting to get the hang of things."
