Wilson, N.Y. – A 16-year-old is dead after drowning in Lake Ontario.
Police say they received phone calls stating that a teenage boy had gone under the water and had not resurfaced for quite some time.
The Niagara County Sheriff’s Office, U.S. Coast Guard and the Wilson Fire Department responded to Wilson Pier.
The boy’s body was located after about 20 minutes.
He was taken to Eastern Niagara Hospital and pronounced dead.
Police say that private boaters also assisted in the search for the boy.
Niagara County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Bureau is investigating what happened.
