Caledonia, N.Y. - A Livingston County man is facing charges for allegedly trying to damage the reputation of a Rochester businessman.
Authorities say John L. Lyons, of Caledonia, posed as a private investigator and sent text messages to the president of a local company.
The company is involved in a battle over a family-owned business.
Lyons, posing as an investigator hired by the family business, offered to hand over incriminating information in return for $25,000.
He faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted.
