Phelps, N.Y. - A 77-year-old man from Sodus was found dead in an overturned vehicle in a creek Friday morning.
Ontario County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the intersection of County Road 6 and Route 96 in Phelps for the report of a vehicle over the embankment.
They determined the vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign, crossed Route 96, went over the embankment and came to rest 40 yards down in a creek.
The driver, Owen Conner, was found dead inside.
Conner had been reported missing by authorities in South Carolina on January 31.
He was last known to be en route from that area to Sodus.
