Chili, N.Y. --- A Monroe County Sheriff's Office spokesman confirms that Michael Krenzer, 53, died this morning at his family's farm on Scottsville Road.

The accident occurred around 11:20 a.m. in a large maintenance building on the farm grounds.  Sgt. Dean Tuthill tells 13WHAM News that Krenzer was repairing a large combine cutter head weighing nearly 2,000 pounds when it fell on top of him.

"The combine head was detached from the combine itself.  It was lifted up by a fork lift however while the male was working on the piece of equipment the combine head slipped off of the tongs of the forklift and fell on top of him," Sgt. Tuthill said.  "There was a co-worker inside the same building that the male was working in as well.  He rushed over to do what he could however he had to go get another piece of equipment to go get this combine head off of the top of the male."

The Krenzer family is well-known throughout the community for their farming and business interests as well as their involvement in St. Mary's Church in Scottsville.

Sgt. Tuthill called this an accident.

"This is a huge extended family in this area in fact they probably farm a lot of the western, southwestern part of this county," Sgt. Tuthill said.

The family has asked for privacy at this time.
