Marion, N.Y. - State Police are investigating a fatal fire in Marion in Wayne County.

Police say a 63-year-old man died in a house fire on Route 21 early Thursday
morning. After firefighters attacked the blaze, they found his body.

They believe the victim is the homeowner, Robert Kymble.

According to New York State Police, the fire was a difficult one to fight.

“The damage was extensive,” says Mark O’Donnell of NYSP. “Every time [the firefighters] thought they had the fire out or under control, they would find some other area of the house on fire. It took some time to get the fire under control.”

Jenette Nevlezer lives the street from Kymble. She says the smoke was thick in the area this morning.

“There was just a humongous plume of smoke and it just spooked me,” Nevlezer says. “It was so big.”

Nevlezer says Kymble was a quiet, private person. The neighbors didn’t know him much although Kymble lived at the home for many years.

Firefighters say the damage is mostly in the back of the house. The fire is not considered suspicious but the cause has not been determined. The fire is still under investigation.
