Rochester, N.Y. – A group of local volunteers returned to Rochester from downstate New York on Sunday after assisting those in need affected by Superstorm Sandy.
Members of Father’s Heart Outreach Ministry, which owns a mobile soup kitchen, spent over a week in the areas most affected by the storm.
Russel Loria, director of the ministry, says the group stayed at a ministry that he used to work at. With the gas and generators that they brought down with them, the group did what they could to help those most in need.
“These people are completely devastated. We handed out over 500 blankets and over 1,600 meals throughout the week. We just wanted to be God’s hands and feet,” Loria said.
The group plans to make another trip downstate within a week.
