Gates, N.Y. -- A Gates police officer suffered a leg injury when she was hit by a car Tuesday night.
Police say the officer was directing traffic at the scene of an accident on Lyell Road around 7 p.m. when she was struck. She was taken to Strong Hospital and is expected to be okay.
Police have not determined whether the driver who hit her will be charged. The incident is still under investigation.
