Greece, N.Y. -- A local high school teacher and baseball coach is one of ten finalists for Dr. Oz's "Transformation Nation."
Karl Nielsen, who teaches at Greece Arcadia, took on the health challenge launched by Dr. Oz in September.
He has lost 102 pounds so far. Nielsen says his goal is to get back into his baseball uniform. His players can hardly believe the transformation.
"We had preseason practices and one thing that stuck in my mind was when [a student] said to me, 'Coach, when you were in the gym, I didn't even know who you were. I thought you were a professional baseball player,'" Nielsen said. "And that inspired me to continue and keep pushing and lose even more weight."
Nielsen started at 320 pounds and his goal weight is 193 pounds.
If he wins the "Transformation Nation" challenge, Nielsen will get $1,000,000.
Nielsen said he will set up a college scholarship fund with some of those winnings.
