Off-Duty Firefighter Alerts Family To House Fire

Greece, N.Y.- An off-duty firefighter alerted a family their Greece home was on fire early Saturday morning.

Firefighters were called to a home on Whisper Creek Court around 7:20 a.m. for the report of a fire.

Firefighters said an off-duty fireman was driving home, saw the smoke and woke the family up.

They all got out safely.

The fire started in an addition. Part of the roof of the addition collapsed and one firefighter suffered minor injuries. He was transported to the hospital for an evaluation

No word yet on a cause of the fire.

The fire was contained to the addition
