Rochester, N.Y.- High winds are blowing across most of Western New York and are expected to stay until around 4 p.m. Thursday.
Wind gusts could reach or possibly exceed 55 mph in WNY during this time.
A flood watch is also in effect for areas east of Rochester. Rain amounts may reach 1” during this time causing creeks and streams to rise.
A Lake Effect Snow Watch goes into effect Thursday afternoon for Wayne County as colder air filters back across WNY.
Thursday will be much colder. At this point it appears that most snow will avoid Rochester and impact areas well east and southwest of the city, although some lake snow from Lake Ontario may move south into Rochester by late Thursday evening.
A few breaks of sun may be possible during the very windy day.
Friday and Saturday will be colder than normal with occasional snow Friday. 2-4” of snow may be possible.
