Huron, N.Y. -UPDATE-- The Wayne County Sheriff's Department will hold a news conference today regarding Daniel C. Burkwit, 50, who is charged with second-degree manslaughter.

His mother, Marcia Burkwit, was found dead in a wooded area one mile from her home in late October. Her body was wrapped in a blanket and covered with leaves.

Wayne County officials say that on October 21 or 22, a physical altercation took place on Bonnie Castle Road in the Town of Huron, where both mother and son were living.

Sources say that Daniel told a neighbor that he found his mother dead at the bottom of the stairs and that he buried her in some leaves in the woods.
