Kabul, Afghanistan (AP) – The latest in a series of apparent insider attacks in Afghanistan has left two U.S. troops dead.

Officials say a police officer opened fire on U.S. and Afghan forces at a police headquarters in eastern Afghanistan, sparking a firefight that killed the two Americans and two Afghan policemen. The attacker was also killed.

It comes a day after a deadline given by Afghans for U.S. special forces to withdraw from Wardak province, where the attack took place.

The majority of U.S. troops in Wardak are special operations forces.
