Rochester, N.Y. - The proposed Intermodal Transportation Center received a major boost so the project can become a reality.
The city received a $15 million federal transportation grant for the $26 million facility that will replace the Amtrak station.
Mayor Tom Richards said the city is now on track to begin construction in 2013.
Richards thanked Congresswoman Louise Slaughter and Senators Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand for securing the grant money.
The city says the current train station does not meet the public's needs because it's more than 30 years old.
