Rochester, N.Y. - Jarron Jones has picked Notre Dame. On Monday, the Aquinas defensive tackle confirmed to 13WHAM Sports that he gave a verbal commitment to Notre Dame to play football in 2012.
Jones, one of the most highly recruited football players to ever come out of Section Five, had originally given a verbal commitment to Penn State but chose to re-open his search early this summer.
"Just the relation to Aquinas, the religious atmosphere, and the smaller class size," Jones said on Monday night, when asked why he chose Notre Dame over Penn State, North Carolina, and Virginia Tech--his other three final choices.
Jones will now concentrate his efforts towards helping the Lil Irish repeat as New York State Champions before heading off to South Bend, IN to join the Irish. Aquinas will play its first game of the 2011 season on Saturday at St. Joe's of Buffalo.
