Hollywood, Calif. – To quote her soon-to-be co-star, Kristen Wiig is “kind of a big deal.” That’s perhaps even more true now that the Brighton native has joined the cast of the Anchorman sequel: “Anchorman: The Legend Continues.”
Director Adam McKay wrote on his Facebook page: “Kristen Wiig is officially on board for Anchorman 2. Couldn’t be more excited.”
Just last month, Wiig and Anchorman star Will Ferrell appeared together at The Golden Globes to present an award.
McKay did not say what role Wiig will play, but in recent weeks, there were reports she was in talks to play the wife of Steve Carell’s character Brick Tamland.
The film will be released December 20. It is being produced by Judd Apatow, who also produced Wiig’s hit comedy “Bridesmaids.”
