Geneseo, N.Y. — It took three weeks, but Eric Schiener received the Republican Party’s nomination for District Attorney of Livingston County. He and challenger, Steve Sessler were tied multiple times before a committee made up of representatives from each town in Livingston County broke the tie with a roll call vote at the county office building Thursday.

“We held our head high, we rode every wave, we’re here tonight and feeling pretty good,” said Schiener.

88 members of the GOP committee voted for Scheiner compared to 12 for Sessler.

Because of the difference in population in each town, the votes are weighted.

The totals announced were 5051.5 to 824.

“Welcome to a three-way race in Livingston County,” said Sessler.

He will run on the Conservative party line as opposed to leaving the race altogether.

In a phone conversation, Democrat and incumbent Greg McCaffrey said he’d been waiting on “pins and needles” to learn if this would become a two or three-way race.

He said the fact it is a three-way race does not change his position or confidence heading into the general election.
