Newark, N.Y.- Newark Police arrested a man accused of forcibly stealing a woman’s car outside of a restaurant Thursday night.
Seth Brown, 31, is charged with second-degree robbery and fourth-degree grand larceny.
Police said around 6:00 p.m., they were called to the Pizza Hut Restaurant parking lot for a report of a stolen car.
The victim told authorities she was in the parking lot when Brown approached her and ordered her into her car demanding that she drive him to Fairport.
She refused and the two struggled.
Police said Brown tried to drag her into the car, but she resisted and he forced her to the ground, taking her car keys from her hand. Authorities say he took off with her car, but later abandoned it along the road in Port Gibson, Ontario County.
Police said Brown was then picked up as he hitchhiked along Route 31 and he threatened the driver ordering him to go to an ATM for money.
As they approached the Village of Palmyra, the driver spotted a Palmyra Police patrol car and immediately pulled up to the officer.
Brown was taken into custody.
Investigators said Brown had approached at least two other people that evening and tried to pressure them into taking him to Fairport.
He is currently on felony probation with the Wayne County Probation Department.
More charges are pending.
