Police Identify Man Killed While Filling Up Gas Tank

Rochester, N.Y. – Police released the name of the man struck and killed by a passing car Monday night while filling up the gas tank of an SUV along the side of the road.

They said Harry Andrews, 37, of Rochester, was standing next to an SUV, pouring gas into the tank, around 11:18 p.m. Monday night on North Goodman near High Street.

The man was reportedly struck by a passing vehicle and thrown into the road.

He was taken to Rochester General Hospital by ambulance, where he was pronounced dead.

Police say the driver of the vehicle that hit Andrews fled the scene.

Investigators are following several leads but are also encouraging anyone in the community with additional information to come forward.
