ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - A marijuana decriminalization bill has revealed the first friction between Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo and his strong, fiscal allies in the Senate's Republican majority.

Cuomo said Wednesday the Senate majority was being led by ultra-conservatives in opposing his measure to make public display of small amount of marijuana a violation, as long as it's not smoked.

Senate Republican leader Dean Skelos says his members represent the views of many New Yorkers on the issue of the illegal drug.

In a jab at Cuomo, Skelos tells The Associated Press the regular session will end Thursday "with a bang, not a bong."

Senate Republicans face a battle for the majority in the fall elections.
