Rochester, N.Y. -- A LeRoy man who struck and killed a pedestrian last March has been convicted of leaving the scene.
Matthew Norstrand hit 41-year-old Richard Strapp as he was crossing E. Main Street at the intersection of Alexander Street on the night of March 12, 2011. Strapp died a few hours later.
Witnesses say Norstrand drove around the block, then back through the intersection where Strapp was still lying in the road. He then drove off and ditched his car.
Norstrand flagged down a police officer outside a bar later that night, claiming his car had been stolen. Police found the car the next day on a dead end street between the accident scene and the bar.
Norstrand faces a sentence of two-and-a-third to seven years in prison.
