Police Arrest Meat Thief Suspect

Macedon, N.Y. - After an ongoing investigation, Macedon Police arrested a man suspected of being behind a string of meat thefts at area supermarkets.

55-year old Richard Lupo of Auburn is charged with 5th Degree Criminal Possession of Stolen Property.

The investigation revealed that Lupo and an accomplice entered supermarkets, loaded up a shopping cart full of meat and left the store without paying. Police found $235 worth of stolen meat in Lupo’s vehicle.

Officials say meat thefts have taken place at area supermarkets including Walmart, Breen's and Wegmans.

The investigation is continuing and charges will be filed on Lupo's accomplice at a later date.
