Rochester, N.Y. - Assemblyman Joe Morelle of Irondequoit announced a bill Friday that he thinks will benefit New York's breweries.

Signed into law by Governor Andrew Cuomo, the bill expands the number of freight trucking carriers who may be issued permits under the state liquor authority. Previous state law restricted the transport of alcoholic products to vehicles under 65,000 pounds. This bill will reverse that restriction.

Morelle hopes the bill will make it easier and more affordable for state breweries, including North American Breweries in Rochester, to ship their products.
