Wheatland, N.Y. - Monroe County Sheriff deputies are investigating a possible murder-suicide of a couple in their mid to late 80s.
Deputies say the couple’s daughter stopped to check on them at their home on North Road in Wheatland around 11:00 a.m. Tuesday. That’s when she found her parents dead in a bedroom.
“Both appear to have been shot,” said Major Steve Koster with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. “They were both elderly, they both had some significant medical conditions.”
According to Major Koster, the family had no knowledge if this was planned. He says no note was found at the scene.
The daughter says she last spoke with her parents around 11:00 Monday night.
Deputies found two handguns at the scene.
They believe the husband shot his wife, then himself.
