Rochester, N.Y. — They are supposed to enforce it, but few seem to know exactly what that will entail.
“We still don’t have a clear picture of exactly what the 39 pages legislation that they’ve passed really means,” said Philip Povero
In Schuyler County, Sheriff Bill Yessman complained about the law on his
Facebook page.
“This law was rushed through the State Legislature, without the time period needed for rebuttle (Sic) and discussion by both sides of the issue,” posted Yessman.
Regardless of feelings on the issue, Livingston County Sheriff John York said he will enforce the bill, once given the information needed to do so.
“We are sworn to uphold the law,” said York.
Some sheriffs tell us they are hopeful their questions will be answered at a conference for sheriffs to be held next week in Albany.
