Canandaigua, N.Y.- The treasurer of the Gorham-Middlesex Parent Teacher Organization is under arrest, accused of stealing $50,000.
44-year-old Tracy Brooks, of Canandaigua, is charged with second-degree grand larceny.
Ontario County Sheriff’s deputies say they began looking into financial irregularities at the PTO, which Brooks was the treasurer of, between 2007 and 2012.
Police say during that time period it was determined that over $50,000 was taken from accounts Brooks had access to.
The Gorham-Middlesex PTO is an organization consisting of parents and family to support the functions of a school and it is separate from the school district.
Brooks will appear in Gorham Town Court at a later date to answer the charge.
