Rochester, N.Y. - The Lilac Festival tends to draw heavy traffic, but this year, there's a lot more foot traffic.Lack of parking lots and spaces have forced many people to go the distance by foot.
Connie Flowers says she was forced to walk a mile from her car to the festival because all the handicap spots were taken.
"It's annoying of course, and I have a handicap hangar, and for me to have a handicap hangar and the handicap parking was full,” she said.
There were some alternatives for those who didn’t want to walk.
There was a shuttle at MCC, taking people to and from the festival, which proved to be worth it for some festival goers.
“We don't have to park the car and drive around for a half hour and squeeze in to a tiny little spot,” said festival goer Charles King.
"We decided to take the shuttle because it's so convenient, it's such an easy process, a $1 free ride back and there, it's great,” said Bill Page.
We also found a couple of guys from Pennsylvania who hailed a taxi to make it.
Another couple we caught up with rode their bikes, but not just to save the environment.
"Honestly it makes more sense, even if you're not an environmentalist; the reality is we got here a lot quicker than a lot of these cars got here."
