Pittsford, N.Y.— Margaret Thompson has lived in relative calm during 36 years on Rosewood Drive; that was until Friday afternoon.
“I was standing at my bar making a cake, and a fellow walked in through the side door, just leaned on the door (and) walked in, got in about four feet. I asked him who he was, he said he was lost,” said Thompson.
It was a brief, yet frightening moment for Thompson.
“I was scared to death, but you know, the police where here within two-and-a-half minutes,” she added.
This all happened at about 2:30 p.m. according to Thompson. A second intruder had also walked in through the open garage door.
Moments later, other witnesses said they watched as police took a man to the ground.
“It was very weird. I grew up here and I’ve never had any incidents like this,” said Caitlin Kempski, a nearby neighbor.
Witnesses say two men casually walked down a path that leads from the Park Road School’s grounds onto Rosewood, entering Thompson’s house.
She was still shaken up Friday evening, but in good spirits following the startling ordeal.
“I was nervous, but I had my spatula (laughs),” said Thompson.
The men were wanted in connection with a robbery and abduction on the west side. A Sheriff's Deputy pursued them into Pittsford. They are in custody.
