Rochester, N.Y. - Winter came back in a big way on Sunday dumping more than a foot of snow in some spots.
The snow, wind and frigid temps. came just in time for the annual Polar Plunge as more than 1,600 braved the icy waters of Lake Ontario to raise money for the Special Olympics.
"I can't feel me feet I'm so cold!" said one Polar Plunger.
Below freezing temperatures made it difficult for event organizers to clear the beach of huge ice chunks so that jumpers could safely get in the water but eventually giant front end loaders cleared the way for the group.
"I am the stupidest person alive," one particpant was heard screaming after leaving the water.
"It stung, it stung it was so cold!" explained another.
"Would it be a plunge without this weather though?" said Teresa Malioux of Palmyra who was watching her husband take the plunge.
This year’s event raised about $225,000 all of which will be going to the Special Olympics New York.
