Rochester, N.Y.- The Rochester Police Department and Alternatives for Battered Women have teamed up to try and make the holiday season more enjoyable for women in need.
For the past month, they’ve been collecting new toys, pajamas, slippers and other personal care items in purple boxes.
It’s called the Domestic Violence Awareness Month "Purple Box Drive".
The gifts will go to battered women and their children.
Officials say even though the purple box drive has officially ended, people can still make donations to Alternatives for Battered Women.
